On August 24th, 2022, the first day of school for Malta students, RCAN and Phillips County CattleWomen delivered the first load of cows to Bear Paw Meats for processing toward the local Beef into Schools initiative. RCAN and Phillips County CattleWomen have been working over the past year to introduce locally-raised beef to our school nutrition programs. Montana’s 67th Legislative Session came to a close on April 29th, 2021, and can generally be considered a success for agriculture. The Montana Farm Bureau Federation (MFBF) followed and took action on over 75 bills, formally supporting 50 and opposing 19 based on MFBF policy. MFBF had a 100% success rate in killing legislation they opposed, protecting agricultural and property rights. Every other year Malta Elementary students attend an unique, hands-on learning experience called Ag Ed Day. The day-long event, organized and hosted by Dave and Yvonne Hinman, Billy Lulloff, and all of the Hinman Angus crew, affords students the opportunity to learn about their community outside of a traditional classroom setting.
