The Malta High School Band and Choir put on an outstanding show on Tuesday, October 26, in the Malta Auditorium. The Malta Concert Choir got things started under the direction of Nancy Murdock. The Phillips County Museum received a grant from the Montana Land Title Association Foundation for $1,000. Three Phillips County municipalities held elections on Tuesday, November 2. The town of Dodson had the busiest ballot in the county, with the mayor’s spot to be filled and two council member spots open. The City of Malta kicked off the holiday season with its Oktoberfest celebration downtown on Thursday, October 28. Fun was had by all at the Stockman Terrace with a soup cook-off, scarecrow decorating contest, and trivia by Blue Ridge Brewery. In the soup competition, Hi-Line Retirement Center won first place, with Jasmine Crasco and Katie Smith coming in second. Pastor Orvin Solberg was installed as pastor of Elim Lutheran Brethren Church in Malta on November 7, 2021. Dear Editor, It was the second week of March 2020, Sonia and I were in Janesville, Wisconsin attending a seminar on raising game birds. Something I thought would be fun to do in retirement. At the conference there were participants from all over the United States, Canada, France, England, Scotland, Ukraine, Belgium, and other European counties. On Saturday, October 23rd 2021, Daryl Douglas Barrett "Doug", 79, passed away at Golden Options Care Assisted Living surrounded by family after a long battle with prostate cancer. The 2021 school year started with a bang, as students studied the Roaring 20s and read The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. After completing the novel, the students each selected an icon from the 20s, researched that person, and then put together a presentation where they portrayed that character.
