The weather is trying to warm up a little---we need it to keep moving in the right direction. While in Laurel this week for a funeral there was quite a difference in weather, from being quite nice to a thick snowstorm on Saturday, depositing 2 to 3 inches of new snow and cold winds again. Sympathy to Texas residents whose homes were destroyed. Most have been without electricity, water or plumbing, Here in Whitewater, my sewer and bathroom froze up! According to their own article in local papers recently, the American Prairie Reserve (APR) leases pasture out for 13,000 head of cattle. At $25/head for 6 months, the 501(c)3 nonprofit organization would generate 1.95 million dollars per year, all tax free. I recently read an article that the Illinois legislature is trying to pass a bill prohibiting the sale of the video game Grand Theft Auto (GTA), saying that it was a direct cause of the escalation of carjacking incidents happening in and around the Chicago area. The article stated that the offenders are getting younger and that this game is making it seem ok to do this. This week marks the mid-way point of the legislative session, 45th day. It corresponds with a deadline requiring bills that do not have money associated with them to be sent to the opposite chamber of the legislature. The Month of February was a month to celebrate and observe Partiotism. The Malta VFW Auxiliary sponsored and held a creative essay writing event called "The Patriot's Pen."
