Leaving Malta, a couple of weeks ago, headed south on vacation, we managed to slip between storms sweeping the country. Except for a stretch of snow-covered highway through Island Park, Idaho, we had dry pavement all the way to the desert. I doubt we’ll be so lucky on our return trip. Norma Jean (Opp) Petersen was born in Hebron, ND on November 23rd , 1934 to Simon and Marie (Ketterling) Opp. She grew up on the family farm, south of Hebron. Norma graduated from High School in 1952, and started teaching in a rural school that fall, while attending Dickinson State college. After graduation, she moved to Plentywood, MT to teach. It is still staying cold and miserable and over the weekend we had one of the worst storms of the winter. It snowed and blew hard from the east and dumped about eight inches of snow on the two feet or so that was already there and after the winds arranged it in drifts where there had not been drifts it was a lot of snow to get moved.
