The March Madness Calcutta that is held every year as a fundraiser for the Health-Care Foundation of Phillips County was held with 18 bidders raising paddles for themselves and their businesses to get the teams that they thought would win it all. The madness part of the night came from auctioneer Darrell Carney. He kept the night lively and moving along, always...

  • Dodson News for Wednesday, March 23, 2022

    Eldora Henry, PCN Correspondent|Mar 23, 2022

The weatherman is predicting it to be warmer all week long, so hope he is right. With the warmer days and the wind every day we finally are out of snow---things are a little brown yet, but soon a little green should be showing. Steve and Judy Henry came up from Billings on Thursday and brought me a newer computer as I seem to have picked up a virus or hacker on my old one. On Friday Schwartz Plumbing and Heating brought and installed a new furnace. I'm just happy the weather was warmer--it...

  • Loring News for Wednesday, March 23, 2022

    Dixie Stordahl, PCN Correspondent|Mar 23, 2022

Spring is officially here! Lots of geese flying north. The snow has melted except in the tree grounds. I’m just waiting for the meadowlark to sing his song for me! Cindy Clark hosted Loring Woman’s Club on Wednesday and invited all the members to dinner as a farewell for Tina Russell. Tina gave us all a small gift to remember her by. She wasn’t here for long, but certainly made a place for herself in our hearts. Most of the discussion was about the Easter eatery or decor that we’d like...

  • Kindle invites community to Sunday Service

    Mar 23, 2022

Dear Editor, Hello to all, I'm writing to invite people to come to church. The pastor of the Methodist Church of Saco and the Little White Church of Malta is a thought-provoking pastor who tells it like it is. He tells us what we need to hear, not what we want to hear. Church in Saco starts at 9 a.m. and Malta, I think, is at 11 a.m. Pastor Steve's sermon from last week was eye opening, and to hear it tune in to KMMR at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Thanks for your time, Sam Kindle...

  • My fear is becoming a realization

    Parker Heinlein, Outdoors Columnist|Mar 23, 2022

When we bought our cabin on Fort Peck Lake I had one immediate fear: the lake would leave. Entering our seventh season at the cabin my fear is being realized. The bay out our back door is rapidly receding, so much so that by ice-out I don’t think there will be enough water left to float our boats. My fear was based on an old photograph in the Billings Gazette taken from the Rock Creek Marina, less than a mile by water from our cabin. It showed an expanse of dry, weedy land that used to be...

  • Where did the time go?

Mark Foss, Whats on Marks Mind|Mar 23, 2022

This past weekend, I believe I was abducted! I woke up, ready to get something done. I had a list of projects in my head and was ready to be productive. Then I remembered that my phone had gone off. I had a message from someone. So I checked that and sent a message back. Then I checked Facebook, because why not, I was already on my phone. And then I played a game on my phone. Then back to Facebook. Sent a couple more messages, and then I looked at the clock. Where the heck did those five hours go!? I couldn’t have been on my phone that long....

  • Last week Kombucha saved my guts

    Pierre Bibbs, Play Ball|Mar 23, 2022

For the first time in a couple of years, my whole family came with me to postseason basketball and wrestling tournaments. Everyone but Lincoln, our three-year-old, was NOT excited about basketball initially. His first basketball experience this season was at the Northern B Division Tournament in Glasgow, where our Mustangs were able to earn the Northern B Title over Harlem, who has been an impressive team to watch this season. Despite Lincoln’s original disapproval in going to the game, it see...

"When there are 2,000 kids or more and 16 mats on the floor, it can be kind of nerve-racking for the ones that haven't wrestled there before, as well as the ones that have," Malta Wrestling Club Head Coach Luke Spencer told the PCN. "All-in-all, I thought that we wrestled really good and competed well." Coach...
