An Environmental Assessment analyzing a proposed continued withdrawal of lands at the Zortman-Landusky Mining Reclamation Area in Phillips County, Montana, has been released by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) for a 30-day public review and comment period. After four years of thoughtful consideration and public input, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has given approval of American Prairie’s application to graze bison across 63,500 acres of public lands in Phillips County. Earl "Ray" Shores passed away at the age of 84 at his home in Zortman, MT. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges. Ray spent the majority of his life in Phillips County as a rancher on Sun Prairie and a hunting guide in the Larb Hills.
