    Voters responded in good numbers for the Tuesday, May 2, 2023, school board election. The election was conducted by mail-in ballot voting. Approximately 60% of voters mailed in their choice for the election. Angel DeVries amassed 780 votes and Katey Marquis received 685 votes to win the election according to the unofficial count provided by the Malta School District Office.     Thelma Jean Stubblefield Bjorklund passed away from natural causes on April 30, 2023. She was 84 years old. Born in Malta, MT on November 2, 1938, to Everett and Millie Stubblefield, she was raised on the family farm near Loring, MT, and later moved into Malta for school. Thelma graduated from Malta High School in 1955. At the age of 16, she attended the University of Montana, graduating in 1959 with a degree in Social Work and a Minor in Music.
