Several people have asked me why Leafy Spurge (Euphorbia esula) has made such a big comeback from their efforts to manage the noxious weed. If I was a bird hunter, I would already have the perfect dog. My three-year-old Cocker Spaniel Bruce has always hated birds. At times he can be seen or heard barking at grackles that nest in a tree in our backyard. I myself have had my beef with the green-headed nuisance birds. Robert T. Morris, WWII Veteran, born November 21, 1921, passed away on March 18, 2018. He was born to Beaver Creek homesteaders Guy T. and Anna B. Morris, joining his brother Boyd and sisters Margret (Duty) and Mary Isabelle (Adams). Robert was in the Army/Air Corps in 1942 training on B52 bombers. Returning to Malta after the war, he tried farming the homestead with brother in law, Earl Duty, and then started trucking for local farmers. In our February meeting, we were given a presentation by two students from Malta High School on their planned trip of 13 students to Washington D.C. to view how government works as promoted by the Close - Up org. We subsequently voted to donate $500.00 towards their trip of one week in mid-April. In our May meeting, they provided us a report on the knowledge gained and other highlights of their trip.
