A 30-year-old Glasgow woman was killed and two children were hospitalized following a one-car accident near Saco last Thursday, according to the Montana Highway Patrol. Lifelong Whitewater rancher, James (Jim) Alexander Murdock, 83, passed away July 8, 2018, in Malta, Montana, from congestive heart failure. He was born in Malta on June 3, 1935, to Scottish immigrants Alexander and Agnes (Hunter) Murdock. Jim was raised on the family homestead north of Whitewater with his three elder sisters, Margie, Evelyn, and Kathleen (Ree), and little brother, Bill. Malta game warden Ben Morin responded to a complaint of signs being shot on Wildlife Management Area (WMA) Area 8 near Nelson Reservoir on July 6, 2018. Upon arriving, Warden Morin found multiple WMA and parking signs had been shot, and there was a significant amount of litter, spent shell casings, and glass left in area of the damaged signs. For the second consecutive year, the Phillips County Fair Grounds will be the site of the Nile Sanctioned P.C. Saddle Club Ranch Rodeo.
