    The Hi-Line Drag Strip hosted Phillips County Motorsports third points race of the 2016 season with around 110 racers present. The Montana Drag Racing Association was present along with association member Chad Robertson, who is the current two time Super Pro Class Champion.     On Monday, July 18, Malta's Co-Ed Softball league kicked off in a surprisingly competitive fashion right off the bat. The action continued Tuesday night. Tuesday's game featured a couple of blowout games as Judd / Thompson (JT) took down Young's Floor Covering 18-4. Malta Recreation took down the R & G Feeders 13-1.   • Wilke wins state at Knights free throw competition

    Malta has had a plethora of athletes who have made noise on a state level. One of the more recent State Champions is ten-year-old Treyton Wilke, who in February won the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Divisional Meet in Havre. After further review and compiled totals around, Wilke was crowned state champion in his group. Wilke sank 18 of his 25 attempts.     Gary Lawrence Taylor, 68, passed away July 25, 2016 at his home south of Saco from complications of his illnesses. Gary was a life-long resident of the Saco community. Gary was born in Glasgow, Montana on June 28, 1948 to Florence and Lawrence Taylor. On June 23, 1973, the rancher married the school teacher, Vivian Baquet, in Choteau, Montana.
