  • Schools, community rally for PC Health Dept

    Mark Hebert, Publisher|Jul 27, 2019

When Phillips County Superintendent of Schools Darlene Kolczack put out a call for assistance in helping the Phillips County Health Department with a need, local schools and groups listened and answered, with the quickness. A total of $6,500 was raised in Phillips County to help the Phillips County Health Department in their quest to purchase a new eye-exam outfit and replace the old machine that was purchased in the 1970s. "I have been stressing about where this money was going to come from,"...

  • Randy Rogers Band co-heads PC Fair Concert

    Mark Hebert, Publisher|Jul 27, 2019

'Flash Flood, 'Lonely Too Long, and 'Kiss Me in the Dark, are but a few of the songs that quickly come to mind when a diehard fan of the Randy Rogers Band (RRB) answer the question of "favorite song," but Rogers himself also has a favorite he likes to perform on stage, something he still relishes 20 years later. "My favorite song for me to play live on stage is 'In My Arms Instead' because it is a song that I wrote and I can see people connect to it and cry to it because of someone they miss and... Full story

  • Phillips County Museum News for July 24 , 2019

    Lori Taylor, Curator|Jul 27, 2019

A fun time was had by ALL. The Fort Peck Theatre hosted “Pinocchio” at the PC Museum this week. A wonderful turnout of over 175 adults and kids. A talented group of actors kept our audience spellbound with their dramatic clothes and actions. The word Theatre brought back some high school memories for me. How many of you remember the drive-in Theatre in Malta? I can still smell the pizza and popcorn that came from that refreshment stand. How many of you stashed yourselves into trunks so that you didn’t have to pay admission charges? We’ll never...

  • Catfish, not catfishing

    Parker Heinlein, Outdoors columnist|Jul 27, 2019

To the dangers we face in Montana every summer add catfish. Not catfishing. Catfish. My friend John ended up in the hospital recently after developing a life-threatening case of sepsis. When I told my wife John was hospitalized following a run-in with a catfish she thought I was talking about the deceptive activity where a person creates a phoney identi-ty in order to scam another person. As a mystery writer that was her first thought. As an angler who has caught a fair number of catfish in my...

  • Happy Crazy Days

    Pierre Bibbs, Sports Editor|Jul 27, 2019

INFO Though I missed a lot of it, I thoroughly enjoyed what time I did spend at the Malta Chamber of Commerce’s Malta Crazy Days event. Like the First State Bank Car Show, or any other big event that occurs in Phillips County, I get encouraged by the show of familiar faces interacting with each other. The growth in the City of Malta has been made apparent by a few things that I have seen or have heard about recently including the fact that there are almost fifty kids in PJ’s graduating cla...

  • Loring New for July 24, 2019

    Dixie Stordahl, PCN Correspondent|Jul 27, 2019

Much of the hay barley has been swathed and huge bales are being dropped in the fields as the farmers store up the feed for winter use. To me, it looks like a great year, if the swathes can get baled before the wind blows the hay around or the rain hits it. The grain crops are starting to turn golden, won't be long now until those big combines are knocking down the grain and it'll be in storage granaries until needed. I do enjoy the different colors of green that the crops show. The crop tour...
