The Malta Senior Center will celebrate their 50th anniversary on Saturday August 17, 2019 from 1-3 p.m. with cake, coffee and lemonade. The event is open to the public. Justin Lucas, Phillips County farmer, rancher, husband, and father, was killed in an automobile accident Thursday, August 8, 35 miles north of Malta. The Montana Highway Patrol reported that Lucas was driving a semi hauling a trailer full of hay and overturned after making a sharp turn and the vehicle fell on its side and a fire started after the crash. "Bursting in Blooms", a patriotic-themed standard flower show presented by the Malta Dirt Daubers Garden Club was recently held in conjunction with the Phillips County Fair. Another successful season for the Malta Swim Team came to a conclusion the first week of August in Sidney, Mont., as the swimmers competed in the State Swim Meet.
