In the early morning of 08/20/2019 there was a vehicle crash located about 2 miles west of Dodson, a short distance west of the Milk River Bridge, on the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation, in Phillips County. A passerby called 911 and reported the crash to the Phillips County Sheriff's Office. Undersheriff Kevin Metcalf responded to the scene, as well as Malta EMS and Malta Fire Department. There were quite a few people who attended the graveside services for Merle Kaasa on Tuesday afternoon. It was a very touching service and lunch was served by the Lutheran and Catholic ladies at the Lutheran Church following the service. Sympathy to all the family and friends. The rainy season hit us like a huge wave from the ocean! Combining in the area has ground to a halt! The crops had been producing a nice yield, but I'm not sure how the average will end up. I always like to stay positive, so at least we are able to harvest. Some people are using this downtime to build fences or rebuild them. The goldfinches are trying out my sunflower seeds. One things that I got to witness two weeks ago was the installation of the new door and other items near the restrooms and laundromat at the MOI building as construction continues there. The construction workers took out a wall, installed new commodes, and put up a new window by the recycling center.
