  • Bowdoin National Wildlife Refuge Announces Changes to Upland Gamebird Hunting Regulations

    Bowdoin National Wildlife Refuge is no longer requiring blaze orange clothing when hunting upland gamebirds. As with the State regulations, it is strongly recommended that hunters wear at least an orange hat to reduce the chance of an accident. This change was made to be consistent with state regulations pertaining to upland gamebird hunting. The East Unit of Bowdoin NWR will open for upland gamebird hunting only, from December 1 until the close of the state season.     The first City Council meeting in September brought a few regular agenda items and reports from various departments. A public hearing of the alley between Ron Scott and Janet Berg was held. First on the regular agenda was the report from Jim Truelove, Public Works Director. He reported lines in Hill Crest had been flushed, with some positive results, though not all the issues brought to the surface at the last meeting had been alleviated. Hanawalt, who had started at HLRC in mid-August, along with HLRC Board Chairman Logan Lund both confirmed that Hanawalt was not there to save HLRC, but to help the facility end things on good terms.     Dan Fewer, 81, passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, in Great Falls. Dan was born in Hinsdale, Montana, on March 11, 1941, the 9th of 11 children to Charles and Elsie (Dannell) Fewer. In 1988, Dan retired from the US Air Force as a Chief Master Sergeant after 28 years of service, and then retired from new careers in the US Civil Service and US Postal Service.
