On Friday night, nearly 300 people crossed the threshold of Feigel Photo to have their free Halloween picture taken by Phillips County resident photographer Greg Smith. Over the past five years, Smith has taken thousands of Halloween portraits and printed them off, gratis, for those who pose. Over the 15-years that Eric Wilke has owned Malta's RadioShack, he has made improvements to the store, but none of the improvements compares to what has just been completed at the location. Every time I see a sideline reporter interviewing a football coach at the end of the first half I think of Cliff Hysell. Cliff was a difficult interview when the game was over. I can’t imagine trying to talk to him at halftime. If he had anything to say it might have been memorable, but it certainly wouldn’t have been suitable for print. Last week on Friday morning, I shaved most of the whiskers from my face. I had a decent winter beard going after not shaving for about a month, but when Halloween rolled around, I went down to bare skin as I wanted to be as historically correct as possible with my costume. I had hoped to be Mark Twain for the day and to really set my costume off I ordered a wig, some droopy eyebrows and a wild, walrus mustache. Surrounded by family and friends, James Edward Golik, 67, of Billings, MT, peacefully passed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on October 19, 2014, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Centenarian and lifetime North Fork Area resident, Berniece E. Hotchkiss, passed away on Monday, October 27, 2014, at Crossroads Assisted Living Center in Delta, Colorado. She was 104 years of age. As per Berniece’s request, no services will be held. Berniece E. Carnine was born September 17, 1910, to John F. and Mamie (Spencer) Carnine in Paonia, Colorado. MISSOULA/MALTA- Donald “Donnie” Owen Nielson, 58, passed away Saturday, October 4, 2014 in Malta, Montana at the Hi Line Retirement Center. He was surrounded by his friends and loved ones from Malta Opportunities, Incorporated (MOI). A memorial service was held on Wednesday, October 8 at the Kirkwood Funeral Home, 202 South Second Street East, Malta. Pastor Kent Gordon did the officiating. The Malta M-ettes proved in last weekend's district 2B tourney in Plentywood, that they were the cream of the crop, taking first after defeating Plentywood, not once, but twice.
