  • Loring News for Wednesday, December 1, 2021

    Dixie Stordahl, PCN Correspondent|Dec 1, 2021

Wednesday we received about an inch of snow, the grass was covered, the highways were icy. But Rodney and I got to Billings in good shape. I helped cook some of the specialties for the Thanksgiving feast! The family met at Jeanie Schroeder’s for dinner. We missed Jacob Wilcox and his family. I stayed at the Boot Hill Inn and when I got back from celebrating with the kids, I went down to the hot tub. To my surprise another Phillips County couple was there enjoying their grandkids swimming! N...

  • Concerns about "Build Back Better" bill

    Dec 1, 2021

Dear Editor and Readers, By now, I'm hoping some of you have called Senator John Tester's office and asked him not to vote for the Build Back Better bill. I have an update to report. I have been calling every couple of days just trying to talk to somebody, anybody. I know I'm making progress as I received a letter this past week. According to Tester, he's working with all members of congress because this bill is so freaking wonderful. Well, if you actually read anything at all in about what's in it, it's not. He has told me that this bill will...

    Parker Heinlein, Outdoors Columnist|Dec 1, 2021

I saw few other hunters this season. But it appears I’m in the minority. Apparently there were so many hunters from Washington up on Frenchman Creek this fall that even they were complaining about all the hunters from that state. In most places with good hunting the locals seldom embrace the non-resident hunters. We’re very possessive about our favorite haunts and like to keep them to ourselves. In Phillips County where I live it’s a bit more extreme. It’s not just the sight of out-of-state hunt...

  • Tester Introduces Bill to Suspend Brazilian Beef Imports Amid Safety Concerns

Roy Loewenstein, Press Secretary of Sen. Tester|Dec 1, 2021

(U.S. Senate)—Following repeated issues with delayed reporting of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE), or Mad Cow Disease, in Brazilian beef, U.S. Senator Jon Tester today introduced legislation to suspend Brazilian beef imports to the United States until experts can conduct a systematic review of the commodity’s safety. “Montanans demand the highest level of safety and certainty in their beef, and Brazilian imports aren’t making the cut,” said Tester. “Folks expect their beef to have been rigorously tested against the strictest of standard...
