For the past 20 years, the Christmas trees at Kirkwood Funeral Home in Malta have displayed ornaments honoring loved ones who have passed away. Currently, there are nearly 450 ornaments on display in the lobby of the funeral home, some on a Christmas tree, many more on giants white pegboards. "There is a lot of history hanging in this room," Greg Kirkwood said. "Every ornament has a story." Saco’s Todd Mandeville received some bits of good news last week. His painting, My Guardian Angels, was awarded the People’s Choice at the National Oil and Acrylic Painter’s Society Best of America Exhibit in Osage Beach, Missouri. “I was pretty excited because I never expect to win anything,” Mandeville said. “I don’t paint to win awards, but it is always nice to be recognized.” Mandeville’s Guardian was part of 102 paintings at the exhibit in Missouri. I wonder what the bird said. A Great Falls man faces charges of animal abuse after allegedly attacking his pet macaw on Thanksgiving. According to a story in the Great Falls Tribune, David Boyken is charged with choking the bird and breaking its leg. Investigating officers found blood and feathers at the scene. Daniel L. Jensen, age 83, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, at the Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital in Glasgow, MT. Daniel was born on June 23, 1931, on the family farm near Grenora, North Dakota, to Jens C. and Selma (Thoeny) Jensen, the 10th of 11 children.
