    The Farm Service Agency would like to remind all producers about the Trump tariff relief program deadline. The USDA Market Facilitation Program was initiated by President Trump and the deadline is January 15, 2019. Producers will not be eligible for program payment unless they come into the office and complete the application. A payment will be issued on 50 percent of the producer’s total 2018 production, multiplied by the MFP rate for a specific commodity. A second payment if warranted will be determined by the USDA.     The Bowdoin National Wildlife Refuge used to be one of my favorite places to hunt. It isn’t any longer. A campaign to rid the refuge of Russian olive trees has essentially ruined the pheasant hunting there. Oh, there are still some birds, but they’re leaving with the olives.     The Dodson basketball team wracked-up two wins last week, saw a long-standing scoring record broken, and added the newest, and smallest, Coyote to their roster all in less than 48-hours. Last Thursday night, the Coyotes headed to Nashua to take on the Porkies and though the matter of who would be victorious on the night was never really in question (Dodson led 35-26 at halftime before taking the 78-57 win) the quest for a school scoring record lingered into the waning minutes of the contest.... Full story

    The Malta Mustangs are headed to Winter Break with a few things to work on after losing both games last week. The Mustangs are set to head to the Malta Gymnasium for practices after having a few days off to observe the Christmas holiday.
