•What service can a small rural hospital afford and which ones are difficult to keep? The first service we should talk about is surgery. Even when we had three physicians here, we only used the surgery suite for minor outpatient surgeries. In the past two years there has been only one surgery performed. We can keep this service only if we can have use of a traveling surgeon and anesthetist and enough patients requiring surgery to make it cost effective.

•The Malta public schools gave exceptionally fine entertainment to a crowded house last Friday evening. A program was given in which all the grades and the high school participated, and following this, a lecture was delivered by Dr. Carl Holliday, professor of English at Montana University. The patrons of the schools were also invited to view an exhibit of school work covering most of the past year, and this exhibit was one worthy of classing with those of the most advanced city systems.
