Dodson squad shows off quality and quantity; Whitewater and Saco had strong showing in Whitewater

Dodson, Whitewater and Saco all had junior high teams present at the Whitewater Invitational last Thursday.

Dodson's seventh and eighth grade squad consisting of Tyrese Messerly, David Jaynes and Stephen Ereaux put up 45 points at the meet, which was good enough for fourth place.

Jaynes placed second in the shot put, with a toss of 32'6", fifth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 14.84, fourth in discus with a throw of 87'7.5", and fifth in the long jump with a leap of 13'1".

Ereaux placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 13'3", sixth in discus with a throw of 76'9" and sixth in the shot put with a toss of 26'3.5".

Messerly won the team's only first place finish, which was in the 800 meter run, in which he posted a time of 2:57.81. He was third in the long jump after leaping to a length of 13'6.5". He also placed third in the high jump after clearing 4'8" and third in the 1600 meter run after posting a time of 6:28.5.

Whitewater's team consisting of Trace Simonson and Cody Scheffelmear scored 40 points and placed fifth at the meet.

Simonson crushed discus after recording a throw of 130'10", which was forty feet longer than CJ Nelson of Opheim, who finished second.

Simonson also won the shot put, after throwing the weight 36'9.25". He was second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.33 and third in the 200 meter dash, posting a time of 29.1.

Scheffelmear placed fourth in the high jump after clearing 4'8". He placed fifth in the triple jump after leaping 24'8".

7/8 GIRLS

For the seventh and eight grade girls team from Saco, Bailey Funk and Jada Sudbrack scored 62 points, which was good enough for third at the meet.

Funk nearly won three events that day, placing second in the 100 meter dash to Tia Hallock of Opheim, who won by a shoe string. Hallock's time was 14.13, while Funk's time was 14.19.

Bailey did finish first in the long jump after posting a length of 13'4" and first in the 400 meter race with a time of 1:13.16, Hallock finished at 1:14.27.

Sudbrack placed second in the 100 meter hurdles, with a time of 21.52 and second to Funk in the long jump, with a jump of 13'3.5".

Whitewater's Bella Lawless showed up all over the leader board, placing third in the shot put, with a toss of 30'4.5", fourth in the 400 meter run with a time of 1:22.28, fifth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 34.63 and sixth in the 100 meter dash with a time of 15:12.

Hannah Anderson finished sixth in the 200 meter dash, with a time of 37.85.

FIFTH AND SIXTH GRADE

The fifth and sixth graders also had great outings at the meet.

The Dodson Lady Coyotes won first with 86 points at the meet as Kailee Henry and Christina Jaynes lead them to victory.

Henry leapt to 3'10" in the high jump, teammate Jaynes made it over 3'8" for second in the event and Meloney Messerly finished third after clearing the 3' mark.

Jaynes won shot put, as she threw the weighted ball 26'4.5". Jaynes continued to show her strength, finishing second in discus, after hitting the 56'3". She finished third in the long jump after leaping to a length of 10'5".

Henry placed second in the long jump after clearing 10'11", she also placed second in the 1600 meter run, posting a time of 6:43.38. She placed third in the 400-meter race, with a time of 1:22.4

Tyra Medicine Bear placed third in the 800 meter run, posting a time of 3:28.6.

Her sister, Keonna Medicine Bear finished fourth in the 1600 meter run, after crossing the line at 7:38.03. She also finished fifth in the 800 meter run, posting a time of 3:46.63.

Lindsey Fetter was fifth in the 1600 meter run, with a time of 7:47.34. Sister Melony Fetter finished the half mile race sixth, with a time of 8:03.03. Melony also finished sixth in the 800 meter run and had a time of 3:50.81.

Whitewater finished with a score of 34.

Kia Wasson placed second in the 200 meter hurdles, with a time of 42.20. She also placed third in the 1600 meter run, with a time of 7:13.3, fifth in the 400 meter run with a time of 1:30.7. She also finished fifth in the 200 meter dash. She had a time of 38.96.

Her teammate, Heidi Anderson, seemed to be right on her Wasson's. Heidi finished sixth in the 200 meter dash, with a time of 39.91. She had a time of 1:32.5 in the 400 meter run, which was good enough for sixth.

She also finished sixth in the long jump, with a leap of 9'5".

Hannah Anderson finished fifth in the event after leaping 9'11".

Kelsee Cummings placed third in the shot put, tossing the weight 19'9.75" and fourth in discus, after a 43'3.5" throw.

5/6 BOYS

As for the boys, Saco placed second at the meet with 64 points. Dodson finished fifth with 43 points and Whitewater sixth with 29 points.

Panther Brady Albus placed first in the 800 meter run, with a time of 3:00.9 and first in the 1600 meter run. He posted a time of 6:15.44. He also placed third in the 400 meter run. He had a time of 1:21.72.

Teammate Ty Murphy won the event with a time of 1:17.6. Murphy placed second in the 800, with a time of 3:07.20 and second in the 100 meter dash, with a time of 15.35.

Dustin Ostrum placed second in the 200 meter run, posting a time of 33.38 and fourth in the 100 meter dash, posting a time of 15.7.

Dodson's Mikey Jaynes was third in the long jump after clearing 11'8.5", he also placed fourth in the 1600 meter run. He posted a time of 6:45.58.

Coyote Gabe LaRoque posted a time of 4:32.82 in the 800 meter run, giving him fifth place and he was sixth in the 1600, with a time of 10:22.9.

Treyton Stiffarm was sixth in the 800, with a time of 4:56.78.

KJ Swan was fifth in the long jump after leaping 10'.5".

Dwight Werk was sixth in discus, with a throw of 48'6'.

Penguin Luke Lawless, had an outstanding meet. He placed first in the shot put after a throw of 31'9" and first in discus after a throw of 78'2". He also placed fourth in the 400 meter run with a time of 1:24 and fourth in the 200, with a time of 38.78.

His teammate Beau Simonson placed sixth in shot put, with a throw of 20'9".
