One Nation, Under God

Malta High School Graduating Class of 2014

Malta's 2014 Graduation ceremony featured 35 students. This year's Valedictorian was Zach Handley, who is not only a standout athlete with brains, but he showed a sense of humor that tickled the crowd's funny bone, during his speech. Telling various tales of his fellow peers and expressing thanks to all that have guided them to their high school diplomas.

"We wouldn't be here today without the help of our teachers and the entire faculty at MHS," Handley said at the event. "It's safe to say that they've inspired each of us in some way or another. They not only told us what to learn but how to learn as well."

He went on to quote Ralph Waldo Emerson, saying "Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."

Handley continued saying, Although our paths will lead us in different directions our trails will all be the same in living the best life that we can.

The quote serves as a reminder to all who heard it, not to be followers, but leave your own mark.

He also quoted Yoda, Do or do not, there is no try.

Handley also led the crowd in a round of applause for the ten teachers retiring, saying soon after, "They have inspired kids to learn and continue to learn in a fun and fashionable way. I, on behalf of our class would like to wish you luck in the next chapter of life. But most importantly, would like to say thank you for all you've done for our class."

He took time to thank the parents of the class of 2014, as well as the coaches and classmates.

He ended his speech, quoting Coach Scott King, "It's a great day to be a Mustang."
