Malta Walleyes seeking anglers for Camp Walleye on June 28 and 29

The Malta Chapter of Walleyes Unlimited is sponsoring an overnight fishing trip on June 28 and 29 at Fourchette Bay. Young fishers will be chosen from participating school in Phillips County who are in the fifth, sixth and seventh grades.

If boys and girls in this age group fell that they would enjoy going on this overnight fishing trip, please ask a Walleye member for an application or contact Don Voegel at 654-1833, telling why you would like to go to Camp Walleye this summer. Drop off the completed application to Westside Sports in Malta or mail it Malta Chapter Walleyes Unlimited, P.O. Box 951, Malta MT 59538, prior to the June 12 meeting.

The Camp Walleye itinerary is as follows:

Meet at Westside Café in Malta on Saturday, June 28 in the morning. Walleyes Unlimited will by breakfast for the children and the adults that bring them as well as the Walleyes Unlimited members involved. After breakfast, the groups will load up and go to Fourchette Bay and the drive there will take a couple of hours. Camp will be set up, lunch will be served and fishing for the rest of the day will follow the meal. That night, fish, hot dogs and hamburgers will be served for dinner, talk about the fish that got away will be had as well as other important topics. Sunday will start with breakfast, police camp, and fishing until noon, lunch, break camp and return to Malta. Children can be picked up at the West Side Café parking lot following the drive home on Sunday.

Walleyes Unlimited will provide boats and life jackets, transportation, tents, food, fishing poles, tackle, bait first aid equipment and cell phones for emergency only. People with first aid training will be on hand. It is our plan to have two young anglers and two in each boat.

Young anglers attending the Seventh Annual Camp Walleye are required to have singed parental permission and a valid fishing license. Any special medicines, allergies or food needs should be included in your application, only for the purpose of making your trip enjoyable. You will also need to bring a change of clothes, rain gear, warm coat and a towel. Personal toiletry items, sleeping bag and pillow. If you have a life jacket that you would like to bring, please do so. If you have warm-water fishing gear you would like to bring, please do so. We request that you leave cell phones, Ipods, electronic games and other distractions of that at home during our fishing trip. We also request that you leave soda and candy at home as well as treats will be provided to everyone.

It is our intention to give children a fun fishing and camping experience like to ones we had growing up.
