Smokey the Bear and Woodsy Poster winners in Malta

A total of 16 Malta Elementary School students were named winners in this year's Smokey the Bear and Woodsy Owl Poster Contest. The contest is sponsored nationally by the National Garden Club and locally by the Malta Dirt Daubers Garden Club.

In the first grade category of the competition, Malta's Sidney Mayer captured first place in the local contest as well as a first place finish in the state competition. Madelyn Ohl took second place in the local contest and Kyann Bergos placed third.

In the second grade contest, Ava Hanley drew her way to a first place finish in both the local and state level of the contest while Dylan Wright captured second place locally and Mecede Myer earned the third place nod.

In the third grade contest, Camryn took first place in three different contests as he finished in fist place locally, in the state and in The Roccky Mountain Region. Madelyn Crasco finished second in the local contest in the third grade division and Marissa Sandvick-Hould took third.

In the fourth grade contest, Emma Harms finished first in the local contest, Kaylee Bishop took second and Justine Lamb was third.

In the fifth grade contest, Liz Schlicting took first place locally, Lauren Doney captured second and Kailey Crowder took third.

The Creativity Award was given to Oren Mackey.

Of all the artists to submit posters to the Smokey Bear and Woodsy Owl Contest, Malta's students had the most first place winners in the entire state of Montana.
