Starrs receive call to serve in Puerto Rico San Juan Mission

Curtis and Bonnie Starr of Malta have accepted a call to serve in the Puerto Rico San Juan Mission of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

They will report to the Mission Training Center in Provo, UT, Aug. 4 for two weeks of training before flying to the mission where they will serve for 18 months.

The Starrs are members of the Malta Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They recently retired as publishers of the Phillips County News, a weekly newspaper they owned and operated since 1985.

The Starrs will serve as member and leader support missionaries. The Puerto Rico San Juan Mission includes the US territory of Puerto Rico plus several island nations including Dominica, Montserrat,

Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Kitts and Nevis the US Virgin Islands and the British Virgin Islands. The LDS Church has over 80,000 missionaries (including senior missionaries) serving throughout the world at the present time. All missionaries serve at their own expense on a volunteer basis.

The Starrs are the parents of six children and have 26 grandchildren.
