One Nation, Under God

After nearly a quarter century, the Green Family gathers

Back in 1990, the siblings of the late George and Ethel Green of the Whitewater and South Wagner communities gathered for a family reunion. George and Ethel were the parents to George, Jr., Margaret (Kesler/Blechen), Mildred Boothe, Donald, Carl, Dale, Roger and Robert. Last year Roger, who now resides in Great Falls, MT. decided it was long overdue to gather the family together. The date of July 4, 5 and 6th of 2014 were set and the family has been invited and notified.

As in many of the families of the generation, only three of the siblings are still living – those being Roger, Mildred (who resides in Billings, MT) and Robert (Bob) of Kelseyville, CA. At this time all three of the siblings are planning on attending.

George and Ethel homesteaded in the Whitewater and Forks area until they moved to the South Wagner community. Both were killed in an auto accident in 1945, leaving the eight children orphaned.

The family tree is quite extensive and some of the branches are quite heavy, while some are not so. Each of the eight branches (sons/daughters) will have someone present from each of their limb on the family tree.

The gathering will begin on Friday the 4th of July at the Trafton Park in Malta. To identify families lineage, color coordinated t-shirts have been designed. The afternoon will be spent visiting and sharing while catching up on the last 24 years. The families will partake and enjoy the fire-works in the evening.

Events planned for the gathering include breakfast at the home of Don and Becky Green on the South Wagner, with the coffee pot on at 5 am on the 5th and 6th and breakfast will be served around 7 am. Don has planned a tour of tipi rings and other historical sites on Saturday morn-ing, Saturday lunch will be at Trafton Park, followed by family pictures. Since there are a lot of youngsters and oldsters who do not have the chance to view farm life, horses will be available for riding and the afternoon will be spent with games and family fun.

In the evening “The Boyz” will be cooking up a BBQ for the clan and there will be an opportunity for visiting and touring the changes in the community and Malta. Departure and return home will be on Sunday for most.

Families will be coming from several states to share in the festivities and get to meet “family”.

Visiting is a high priority in this family and friends are welcome to join the family as they begin the reunion on Friday afternoon. If you would like to attend the BBQ Saturday evening, please let us know in advance so we can accommodate the numbers so our cooks don’t stress out.

“If you cook it, they will come”…. or something like that…. here they come!!!
