Marvin Leslie Jones

MALTA-Marvin Leslie Jones, 79, a retired sanitation employee for the City of Malta, went to be with the Lord on August 2, 2014 with his family at his side.

The family will receive friends at 7 p.m., Wednesday, at the Kirkwood Memorial Chapel. Services will be 2 p.m. , Thursday, August 7, 2014 at the Kirkwood Chapel. Interment will be in the Malta Cemetery. Condolences for the family may be left at http://www.kirkwoodfuneralhome.com.

Marvin was born February 14, 1935 in Malta to Robert McKinley and Florence Frances (Ferrell) Jones. He attended school at Bowdoin. He met the love of his life, Shirley Jean O'Brien, and married her on August 26, 1959. To this union came four children, Shawna Marie, Marvin Troy, Mark Kevin and Darcy Mae.

Marvin worked for the railroad, city sanitation department and various carpentry and farming jobs. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, antiques, coin collecting and gardening. He loved to spend time with family and had a special bond with all the grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed going to the annual family reunion as he was the life of the party with his stories.

He is survived by his wife Shirley of Malta for 55 years; sons, Marvin (Dora) of Malta, Mark (Linda) of Swift Current, Sask .; daughter, Darcy (Dusty) Dowell of Malta; brothers, John (Chris) of Libby, Roy (Sandy) of Columbia Falls; sisters, Pat (Bob) Anderson of Whitewater, Joyce (Don) Parenteasu of Libby, Peggy (Roger) Offerdahl of Columbia Falls; 13 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren; his in-laws, Harold and Ethel Schmoechel; numerous nephews and nieces.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Shawna; granddaughter, Lacey; brothers, Fred, Al, Elmer, Orville and Don; sisters Dorothy and Lorraine.
