Carolyn Schmoeckel retires

A party was held for Malta City Clerk and Treasurer Carolyn Schmoeckel last Thursday as she spent her final afternoon at the place she had worked for the past 26 years. Though she said she was happy to be retiring, she will obviously miss her position as when she addressed the crowd of 30 or so well-wishers, she welled up with tears.

"This is an emotional day for me," she said. "I never thought I would be leaving this job ... but it is time to move on."

She said that perhaps it was time to become a snowbird – she even said Vince, her husband, could come too – and that her years working...
