Headline: One Deer Season

If legislature this coming season adopts the idea of the State Game Warden J.L. DeHart, the limit on deer will be reduced from three for each hunter to one, and that one a horned animal.

"There are two reasons why I favor this change," said DeHart. One is that the state is filling up rapidly with people. We should consider the obligation we owe prosperity, and if the limit be reduced to one buck a season per hunter, deer will always be comparatively abundant in the state.

"My second reason is that if the limit be reduced to one horned animal, the liability of accidents will be greatly minimized. Then the hunter will have to see the horns before he shoots, and thus is not likely to make a human for a deer. In the eastern states the number of hunters slaughtered each year is appalling, and we want to prevent this condition occurring in Montana."

If Mr. DeHart is doing this thinking that is going to make us feel bad he is entirely wrong, because we could not shoot on if they were big as a house and as stationary as the hills in which they feed.

Christmas

By Bonnie Hendershot

Christmas spirit hovers near

Cheerful words fill the atmosphere

People scurrying to and fro

Buying gifts for friend and beau

Mothers busy by themselves

Fixing goodies on the shelves

Children digging into nooks

Wanting just one little look

Days like these we won't forget

Our ever have cause regret

Christmas

By Roberta Rott

Christmas comes but once a year,

Bringing lots of joy and cheer.

Little girls and little boys,

Ask for dolls and other toys.

Santa is a jolly guy,

If you're bad he'll go right by.

But 'course the little children try,

Never to lie or fight or cry.

On Christmas Eve you'll always see,

The stockings hung besides the tree.

And children very sad and forlorn,

Hardly able to wait till morn.

Now it's here; then it's gone,

With reindeer tracks all o'er the lawn.

Now we'll have to wait another year,

Before we have this kind of cheer.

Headline: Amid the drifting snow of the Montana winter, nestled in a valley, lies Whitewater School, home of the Penguins. Students of Mrs. Dixie Stordahl were visited last week about Christmas and all the preparations for such.

Below are the student's answers to questions they were asked.

Question: How do you get ready at your house for Santa?

Chase Kovarick (K) I get ready in my red shirt with blue stripes. I put blue pants on. I help my mom. I make cookies and wash dishes.

Question: What have you done this year that might make Santa fly by your house and not stop?

Peter Lageson (Gr. 1) I jump on my bed. I jump off and land on my dresser. Mary tells me to sit down!

Jonathan Haag (Gr. 1) I fight with my sister ( I win.)

Addam Hellie (K) Some years I have been good. I think I've been good this year. I don't share sometimes. I'd share Christmas toys, though...some of them!
