One Nation, Under God

Don't hate the game

I’m not typically a fan of games people play on Facebook.

No, I will never play a game of Candy Crush or Words with Friends, but I have to say, one application has gotten a hold of me and probably won’t let go anytime soon....

Trivia Crack.

I stumbled upon the game while looking for an application that would help me with my memory.

I figured I was a fan of trivia, so I thought I would give it a try...

I didn’t know it was so popular until I was challenged to a game by an old college friend.

It was a game I ultimately won.

Turns out that the things I thought were useless things I learned in my school years are coming in handy for bragging rights.

For those that have no clue what I’m talking about, the game has a couple of different modes, but my favorite is classic.

Classic mode involves you winning six trophies and each trophy represents a different subject. Art, Science, Literature, Geography, History and Sports.

In order to win one of these trophies you spin a wheel. The wheel will either land on a subject. The questions have multiple choice answers. For every three questions you answer correctly, you get a chance to win a trophy of your choosing.

Answer the multiple choice question right and you win a trophy. Answer wrong and you have to wait for your opponent to have a chance.

The first to win a trophy in each subject wins.

So far, I’ve only lost once.

Turns out that shelf that fell and hit me in the back of the head at Walgreen’s didn’t mess me up too bad.

Now that I’ve compromised my position as a nerd...

I also love to play Madden Football. It’s a gift and a curse.

Lord knows what I will do when PJ is old enough to understand video games.

I don’t like to share, so I guess my son it out of luck.

On a more serious note, I couldn’t be any more proud of our high school sports teams, midway through the Winter sports season, the teams are heating up and I’m optimistic that many will make it far into post-season play.

My favorite moment of the past sports week had to be the Malta - Rocky Boy game.

Our boys were down by more than a dozen, but fought back hard and nearly forced an overtime.

At times the officiating was hard to watch and many have already griped about it, but the MOA does a great job.

While they can’t see everything, I believe they do a spectacular job.

PJ has been to a few games and he told me that his favorite player from the M-ettes is Marley Manoukian. (He did mess up the pronunciation).

He said he appreciates her hustle on the court.

As far as the Mustangs go, he said he appreciated seeing Allen Williamson drive into the paint and admires his offensive rebounding.

Straight from his mouth.

In other news, it’s terrible that the National Championship wasn’t on broadcast television...

It’s like losing Monday Night Football all over again.

ESPN I hate and love you at the same time.
