Flags should be displayed on MLK Jr. Holiday

Dear Editor,

I noticed that on last Monday, which was a federal holiday to honor the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the American flags were not on display throughout down town Malta. I was told by our fire department that they do not display the flags for this special day, but do display them on September 11 which is now known as Patriot’s Day. I do agree that the American flags should be on display each September 11, but I also feel they should be out on the January Monday that we are to honor Dr. King. I appreciate the time our fire department volunteers to display the flags. I hope that on Dr. King’s birthday the American flags will also be on display in Malta. Thank you.
