Penguin girls commandeer second at Porcupine Meet

Whitewater Senior Kourtney Simonson took first in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1 minute and 5.9 seconds at the Porcupine Invitational. To the left, Saco freshman Bailey Funk took third in the 400 with a time of 66.94.

The Whitewater Lady Penguins track team took second place at the Porcupine Invitational track meet hosted by Nashua at Glasgow High School last Friday.

Whitewater, who scored 75, only lost by two points to Class B's Wolf Point Wolves who scored 77.

The team was led by Senior Kourtney Simonson, who took first place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1 minute, and 5.9 seconds.

Ko. Simonson also took second in the 800 with a time of 2:39.4. She would also take fifth in the 1600 with a time of 6:25.7, which is her personal best in the event.
