Whitewater School hosts annual carnival

Folks packed into the old gym at Whitewater School last Thursday for the school's annual Carnival held each year for a way for classes and the booster club to raise monies for such occasions as the Eighth Grade Graduation Tea – hosted by the seventh grade-- and to build up coffers for high school graduation.

"The different classes set up different activities for the night," said Mariam Sanguins, Music teacher at Whitewater School. "They are mostly little carnival games people can play and win prizes."

About 100 people filled the gym for fun and games – running from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. -- on the night and were treated to a cakewalk, a climbing ladder, a Dice Toss, a Dart Throw and Plinko, among many games. The Whitewater Booster Club sold pizza for dinner and hosted a bouncy house that had the tikes, literally, bouncing off the walls with delight.

"We see a lot of the younger families who don't have children in school yet showing up for the Carnival," Sanguins said. "It's a nice way for those younger kids to see the school as well."

Shaved ice was served, temporary tattoos were applied and hundreds of prizes were awarded on the night.
