One Nation, Under God

Thank you M-ettes, we love you

It feels as if I’ve been everywhere and back again in the past few weeks. Travelling with the rest of the M-ette entourage sure is tiring. However, I would not change a single thing about it. It has been amazing watching my little sisters and the rest of the girls cap off a perfect season. They sure are tough, I cannot think of a better group of girls.

The best part of tournament season for me is seeing the family together, both distant and immediate. In our family nothing brings people together better than basketball. It’s always been that way. I got to spend time with my grandma Doris, something I have come to appreciate more and more as I age. It sure is a mind-trip watching your loved ones age. It really makes me appreciate the time I spend with them.

My sisters are State B Champions, as well as a distant relative Derrek Durocher of Choteau. As coincidence would have it, both squads have completed another perfect season, riding high on a 52-game win streak. Hard work has paid off for both Hailey and Derrek as they received State B Tournament MVP honors earlier last week. It doesn’t stop there either… this weekend Hailey and Jada competed in the Treasure State Classic. Four games later the Northern B reigned supreme and Hailey amassed yet another Tournament MVP. Words cannot describe the pride, love, and admiration I have for my little sisters. They make great role models, and I am not embarrassed to say I look up to both of them greatly.

Growing up, I knew they were on the right path to a successful life. They haven’t strayed once, despite their older brother swerving on and off the path. That’s sheer determination. “You are not born a winner; you are not born a loser. You are born a chooser.” My sisters and the rest of the M-ette squad have chosen to be winners. Through hard work and determination they have given the whole community something to be proud of. Nobody sees the blood, sweat, and tears you girls put in daily, but we definitely appreciate all of it. Thank you M-ettes of 2016, you have given your entire community something to believe in. WE LOVE YOU!!!
