One Nation, Under God

This time I was ready

This past State B Tournament in Butte was my favorite state outing so far, for a few reasons.

It was great seeing PJ interact with complete strangers by making them laugh and every once in a while it’s just nice to travel.

This past trip marks the fourth time that I’ve had the chance to not only go to State, but the fourth time that I’ve experienced a championship game.

In previous championship games, I’ve always made some kind of food related mistake.

This year I did wise up a little bit.

My wife and I have a tradition, that every time we are out of town, we have to hit the local Buffalo Wild Wings (B-dubs) restaurant; the reason being our first date was at the Buffalo Wild Wings in Romeoville, Ill.

Typically we would either eat wings before a championship game or the next day.

I learned really fast that eating B-dubs before a road trip is a terrible idea. Eating them before a big game is worse.

One reason being that the wings I love are hotter than a normal human should eat. That comes with consequences that I will not be sharing.

Another reason is that I can’t help but to get blue cheese dip. I am lactose intolerant.

There is nothing more uncomfortable than being on the side of the court, with stomach cramps due to acid indigestion and lactose induced gas.

So I wised up this year.

I took several LactAid pills with nearly every meal, and I avoided cheese all together.

As for B-Dubs, we went there the first night of our trip.

Then I ran into K-Mart for Maximum Strength Kaeopectate. And nearly drank the whole bottle before the night ended.

It worked.

I have to say the championship game against Fairfield was my most comfortable championship game so far… As far as lactose issues are concerned.
