Betty Lucille (Lorentzen) Nybo

September 3, 1927 – March 29, 2016

Now you can dance and twirl, Mom

Betty was born September 3, 1927 in Saco, MT, the daughter of Clarence and Alice (Martin) Lorentzen.

Betty graduated from Saco High School where she lettered in band by playing the trombone and attended all the dances as she loved to dance. She moved to Oregon with friends and worked as a telephone operator. She married Palmer Oliver Nybo, also of the Saco area, at the Chapel of Rocks and Roses in Medford, Oregon October 1, 1947. She was confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Saco after she married Palmer.

They moved back and forth across the Hi-Line from Glasgow to the west coast as Palmer was a heavy equipment operator and followed construction work.

Betty was an excellent seamstress, loved to dance, play pinochle, and socialize with friends. She was a stay-at-home mom of four children until she became a widow at the age of fifty.

She then moved to Glendive, MT and attended Dawson Community College as a business major. After graduation, she worked for Public Employees Credit Union and Diet Center. She went to many dances and traveled with friends throughout this time.

Betty moved back to Marysville, WA in her sixties to be closer to her children. At age 86, she moved to Columbus, MT to be with her daughter and son-in-law.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers: Richard (Buddy), Clarence, and Donald Lorentzen, one son, Monte Nybo, son-in-law, Logan Elliott, and childhood friend, Shirley "Maxine" Anderson.

She leaves behind three children, Paulette Northup (Daryl), Annette Kirk, Shane Nybo, and one daughter-in-law, Jacque Nybo; seven grandchildren, Levi Northup (Melanie), Sky Northup (Karen), Tanya Kirk (Dru), Lindsay Bauer (Michael), Taylor Nybo (Zabrina), Lacey Wheeler, Aaron Wheeler (Rebecca), and numerous great-grand children. She is also survived by longtime friend and sister-in-law Frances Nybo of Billings and longtime friend Dorothy Helm of Glendive.

We would like to thank Meadowlark Assisted Living and Beartooth Manor in Columbus, MT for their wonderful care and kindness as well as Columbus Community Congregational Church and Donna McClure of Stillwater Hospice.

Cremation: Smith Funeral Chapels, burial: in Marysville, WA next to her husband, Palmer.
