Legion and Community – a working team...

Recently, the American Legion held their annual yard sale and it was deemed as the most successful one they have held. A big factor in the success of the event is the community involvement and support. All the available treasures at the sale are the result of donations to the American Legion group. This commitment of the Legion and the community benefit various local groups through the turning around of the funds received into donations back into the community. It is a win-win event.

Not only is the annual sale one of the biggest sources of income for the members of the American Legion, it is a project that bonds them through labors of love, community service and dedication. The group spends literally hours driving around and picking up the donations when called, taking it to the VFW post in preparation for the event and hours sorting and preparing the merchandise for sale. Their labor of love builds camaraderie and perhaps one of the reason some of these fellas are staying forever young.

Keep the American Legion project in mind come next spring when you are starting your annual spring cleaning and give the men of the Legion a call – 98-percent of profit from the event go to work right here in our community.
