Helping Hand

New Malta Outreach program looks to help those in need

Recently, some members of St. Mary’s Parish in Malta, met with the local Family Resource Specialist, Deidre Reiter. Deidre works first hand with the families within our community that have fallen onto hard times, and are in need of help. The number of families right here, and around our surrounding area that are unable to obtain, and are living without your basic day to day essentials is overwhelming.

In effort to help make a difference, we will be teaming up with Deidre, and the Malta Food Bank in attempt to acquire these simple, but essential items.

Imagine the smile on that little boy's face when he puts on that new pair of shoes, or that little girl who can’t wait to get to school to show off her new backpack. It’s the little things that truly do make a difference. Please join us and help bring happiness into these homes.

A list of donation items, as well as drop off locations can be found at St. Mary’s Church, and the Malta Food Bank. Albertsons in Malta will soon have a drop box for any donation items purchased within the store. We will also be offering a pick-up service if you would like any items picked up from your home. Cash donations are also encouraged. Please make checks payable to either St. Mary’s, or Malta Food Bank (memo: OUTREACH.)

We’ve added a Facebook page (www.facebook.com/maltaoutreach) where individuals will be able to request their specific needs and necessities.

For example: If someone has a child in need of some clothing, you can private message, or email [email protected] the child’s sizes, and gender. All requests will be posted to the page for public viewing at the administrative discretion (necessities only please)

If any viewers are willing, and are able to assist in any way possible, they too will have to private message, or email administration in order to keep comments directed only to the issue. All individuals (giving and receiving) will remain anonymous, and all exchanges will be coordinated by administration. We encourage all in need to reach out and ask for our help.

Please join us in effort to help make a difference in our community!

We understand that not everyone has access to Facebook or email, so please contact us if you know of someone who could use a helping hand.
