Sawyer Brown dazzles at PC Fair

Sawyer Brown took the stage Friday night at the 101st Phillips County Fair in Dodson with a crowd of 1,700 people in attendance, introduced by Travis Rhoads.

"I've never really heard of them or the opening act" said Dodson resident, Ashley Scheffelmaer. "But they played very well and were very enthusiastic."

Sawyer Brown started their set with a fan favorite called Some Girls Do. This opening song had the crowd slowly forming as so many couples were dancing away. They performed other hits such as Dirt Road, The Boys and Me, and Drive Me Wild. Sawyer Brown lead singer Mark Brown told the audience the band had just released their 23rd album, though they are no longer called "albums" by most.

"Our first three albums also came out on 8-track," Brown said to big applause, before breaking into the love song Smoking Hot Wife which he penned for his "smoking hot wife."

"She loves that song," Brown said at the song's conclusion.

Malta's Grace Doucette said she was thrilled to have Sawyer Brown at this year's Phillips County Fair.

"Being a Sawyer Brown fan prior to this concert made the experience even more enjoyable, and I'm glad our little community had such a great band," she said.

Prior to Sawyer Brown's performance, the opening act Forgotten Highway got the crowd hyped up playing mainly covers of songs but some original ones too. The crowd went wild when they did a cover of Fishin in the Dark by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.

Following the concert, Forgotten Highway played at the street dance late into the night outside the rodeo arena.
