The North Country Mavericks' regular season started in Saco last Thursday as the team lost to Class B's Poplar Indians 25-20, 25-15 and 25-8. The team bounced back the next day as they took down Class B's Harlem with sets of 25-17, 25-11 and 25-11.
The team looks to improve on their 2015 campaign which ended in Scobey at the 2015 District 3C Tournament. Like last year the team won't have a big senior class as the only returning senior is hitter Kaleigh Cummings.
The team will be under Coach Barry Malone this season who has coached the team in two different stints prior to the 2016 season.
