Dodson Speedway AMX to hold benefit race October 1-2

Engines are roaring and the final touches are being added to what seems to be an aging group of AMX cars in preparation for the final race of the year. This race is Oct. 1 and 2 in Dodson and will be a benefit race for Russell Jaynes.

Russell was diagnosed in February of 2016 with adenoid cystic carcinoma and since then has had two major surgeries, followed by six weeks of intense radiation. His surgeries were in Salt Lake City, Utah - and this cancer is so rare he was only the 17th case they have had in their hospital.

Following his surgeries and treatments, he was able to go back to work. When he went for his six week checkup the cancer had spread dramatically and he again began radiation.

Russell is married, his wife is Jennifer (Dauch) and they lived in Phillips County until the last couple years when they moved to Havre. Jennifer has had to quit one job due to the amount of time she was unable to attend. Their family has dealt with cancer before - as their son, Thomas, was also a victim of cancer several years ago. At this time family members are taking turns driving Russell to Great Falls several times a week for his treatments which allows Jennifer to work again.

The Jaynes family is no stranger to AMX racing, the family is well vested in the art of driving at a adrenalin level heightened to win. Russell’s dad, Bill, and sons and grandsons are part of what has made the Dodson Speedway AMX a fun and competitive sport. Bill’s racing career goes back to his high school days and his deep love for building, tuning and racing cars. This tradition has been handled down and will continue. Russell’s mom, Alice, is getting her driving time in with assisting by driving Russell to Great Falls several times a week.

Russell and Jennifer have the support of the Dodson Speedway families and the benefit will assist in their medical expenses incurred for his treatment.

A silent auction will be held ONLY ON SATURDAY Oct. 1 so be sure to get to Dodson and assist in this endeavor. For more information contact Millie Kindle or Frank Kindle. Donated items are being sought and one can check with Millie for more details.
