Malta News for September 28, 2016: Thayne Mackey

Malta’s Thayne Mackey suffered a serious injury last week in which he lost his left hand. Thayne is in the hospital getting healed up and is doing better.

On Friday afternoon while working at his wool mill, Thayne’s hand was sucked into a carding machine (two huge steel rollers covered with steel bushings.) He was stuck there for nearly seven hours before a family member went looking for him and found him trapped. Thayne was immediately flown to the trauma center in Denver, Colo. The damage was too severe and the doctors had to amputate down to his left wrist.

Thayne was in good spirits on Sunday night and enjoyed a cheeseburger and salad for supper. He wants to thank the Phillips County Sheriff’s Office, the Ambulance Crew and Volunteer Fire Department for coming to his aid as well as Sherry and the Crew for getting him “Packed up and shipped out.”

To help cover medical costs and to aid in the road to Thayne’s recovery, a GoFundMe site has been set up at http://www.gofundme.com/2qx4a9w and donations may also be sent to P.O. Box 372 Malta, Mt. 59538.

The entire family thanks everyone for their prayers, calls, texts and donations they have already received.
