City Council looks to purchase land for new pool

During the Malta City Council Meeting last Wednesday, the council decided in a unanimous, 4-0 vote to proceed with a tentative plan to purchase the land south of St. Mary’s Parish in Malta from the church in hopes of building a new pool there.

St. Mary’s Church would only be asking for fair market value for the lots, according to Malta Mayor Shyla Jones. She said no plans for the purchase by the City of Malta definite, but added in order to get designs for a new pool drawn there needs to be an idea of how big of a space the City would have to work with.
