One Nation, Under God

Superintendent's Desk for the week of November 2, 2016

It's a great day at Dodson Public Schools!!

Last month I discussed the first of several components that make up a highly successful school / organization. The foundation of success emphasized begins with the culture and that is influenced by the people you place in your organization. Positive, competent people in every position will equal a positive workplace and learning environment through and through.

A second important component that research connects to a highly successful school focuses on parent/community involvement in the school. As stakeholders in the school.... parent and community input and partnership must be encouraged. Including parents on diverse school committees, planning, appropriate volunteers in the classroom, assisting with clubs and activities .....are just a few of the countless ways we can involve parents and members of the community in the education and growth of our local children. Well marketed and planned parent/teacher conferences, open house, school newsletters, speaking engagements at local Chamber and Rotary meetings, etc., help to keep the lines of communication open and transparent about the direction and "goings on" at the local school.

Equally significant are the ways our community can partner to extend and supplement our curriculum and education. Field trips to educational presentations, cultural diversity and awareness, 4-H, the touring electrical truck, Northeastern Arts, .......the opportunities are endless when discussing the manner in which our community provides hands on experiences to our students and our staff in math, reading, science and the arts.

Parent and community involvement and partnership in our schools is vital to the overall success of a highly successful school. In Dodson, we will continually encourage, and nurture this component.

Go Coyotes!
