One Nation, Under God

Donna Lee Main

Donna Lee Main, 79, of Missoula, died Tuesday December 6, 2016 following a brief illness.

Donna was born August 23, 1937 in Malta, Mont., to Bob and Myrtle Simanton. She grew up on a small farm east of Malta. When she was 13, to her father's delight, she and her mother were baptized as Jehovah's Witnesses. She currently attended the Blackfoot Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Missoula.

Donna attended college in Havre, Mont., for one year and received an emergency teaching degree. That degree landed her a job teaching 5th - 8th grade in Zortman, Mont., at the age of 19. She taught school for one year. But then Mom met Dad, they married, and after moving around for a bit they settled in Missoula.

She was always proud of her garden. She was busy every fall canning fruit, making pickles, putting up more food than we could possibly eat. She was a great cook! Visitors were always greeted with "Can I get you something to eat?" But most of all, Donna always had a smile, and that smile won her many friends. Watercolor painting kept her busy and of course every week there was Bible study.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Bobby, Dick and Billy Simanton, all of Malta. She is survived by her husband Bill Main, sons David (Lisa) and Jim, all of Missoula. She also enjoyed her four grandsons and seven great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1115 S. Reserve St. in Missoula on Tuesday, December 19 at 2 p.m.
