Evelyn Ann (Boos) Starkey

Evelyn Ann (Boos) Starkey joined her two angels in Heaven on January 22, 2017, in Havre, Mont. Viewing was at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Malta on Thursday, January 26 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with Rosary following at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass was held at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 27 with burial following in the Malta Cemetery. Memorials in Evelyn's name may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church or to the charity of the donor's choice. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements. The fifth of 10 children, Evelyn was born on her father's birthday, June 11, 1928, on the family homestead north of Wagner to August A. Boos and Anna L. (Young) Boos.

Evelyn attended grade school in a one room school house at Walston and graduated from Dodson High School. After attending Northern and Western Montana Colleges, Evelyn taught at the Strator, Bowdoin, Walston and South Wagner rural schools and later worked at the Malta Grade School. After raising her children, Evelyn served as the Assistant Librarian and Librarian of the Malta Public Library.

Evelyn married John "Bill" Starkey on March 17, 1950, in Malta, Mont. Following their marriage, Evelyn and Bill moved south for Bill's job with Pure Oil, living in Odessa, Texas., Grove Hill, Ala., and Ardmore, Okla., eventually returning to make their home in Malta, where they resided until moving to Timber Creek Village in Havre, Mont.

Evelyn found the true joy in her life to be her 12 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Evelyn is survived by her loving husband of nearly 66 years; three children, Sheryl "Sherry" Davison and her husband, John, of Havre, Richard Starkey and his wife, Shawn, of Malta and Timothy Starkey and his wife, Connie, of Great Falls; seven grandchildren, Kristine Boyer of Alliance, Neb., John Evan Davison of Havre, Amanda, Samantha and Kylie Starkey of Malta, Trenton Starkey of Dallas, Texas and Taylor Starkey of Great Falls; and 12 great grandchildren. Also surviving, are three sisters, Lila Raymond and Lewellyn McNamara of Malta and Mary Lou Lavey of Scobey, and three sisters-in-law, Lillian Boos and Karen Boos of Malta and Joyce Boos of Scobey.

Evelyn was preceded in death by two infant daughters, three great grandsons, her parents, and brothers, Joseph, Bernard, Vincent, Leonard, Donald and Thomas Boos.
