Malta Mason Lodge #57 members donate beef

For the second year in a row the Malta Masonic Lodge #57 members have donated beef to the Hi-Line Retirement Center and with the help of the Order of Eastern Star (OES) Malta Sacajawea Chapter #37, also served the meal.

The three members of Lodge #57 who donated beef this year were: Troy Blunt, Greg Oxarart, and Scott Waters. The beef was then prepared by the chefs at the HLRC and volunteers from both Masons and OES served the meal for dinner on Sunday, February 26th.

Edwin Medina had taken the menu around and placed the orders to the kitchen.

Several volunteers then visited with the residents, helped them on with their shirt protectors, and took drink orders.

Duane Murray was in the kitchen with Kathy Woodall dishing up the choice of Taco Soup with chips or Hamburger Steak with gravy and a vegetable.

Volunteers would then meet with Kaitlynn Wells who directed the volunteer to the correct table and individual to be served.

Much laughter and curiosity was exchanged between the residents and volunteers as many were questioned why we were there and as others reunited with old comrades. Many residents recalled us doing this last year and were appreciative of the meal.

The volunteers said their good byes as they cleared the tables and talked about how they would like to make this a yearly event.

There were seven Masons and three OES women in attendance, three of the Masons are also OES members.
