One Nation, Under God

Saco News for March 15, 2017

The groundhog was right, we still had six more weeks of winter. Let's hope he didn't underestimate that figure. Saco received 4-5 inches of snow in the last storm. Yippee. At least there aren't many mosquitoes.

A turn in the weather was fortunate for the dedicated town skaters. Chelsea and Josey Quinones cleared the fresh snow off the smoother than ever ice just in time for a Sunday afternoon game of hockey. Players included themselves, the Pippin boys (including Chris) and Erickson girls, Jaydyn and Jessa.

The Saco/Hinsdale bands took a band trip last weekend to the Rapid City, SD area. Grades 7 thru 12. Stops included Black Hills State University in Belle Fourche where they were able to work with college music professors individually and as a group. They combined choirs recorded a stellar version of the National Anthem and the combined bands recorded a fine rendition of the North Country Mavericks fight song. Both sound great! They took in the Thompson Square concert at Deadwood, visited Mount Rushmore, and splashed around at the WaiTiki water arena.

Saco BPA students went to Billings to compete in the state BPA contest. Good luck Christian Menge, Chandler Pippin, Christopher DePuydt, and Devon Salveson, and thank you to Kelly Downing for continuing a great education tradition!!

Track season started Monday the 13th. Please watch for runners after school on North Lane as soon as weather conditions improve. I have been informed that there are nine high schoolers out for track.

Golf season also started Monday. I believe there are four golfers this year. Both track and golf represent 100-percent of the high school participating in a spring sport. Great job Panthers!!

As always, please contact me with news you would like to be included in the Saco section. My crystal ball has come up broke so there is really no other way other than email me at [email protected] or call at 527-3349.
