High school students interested themselves in clean-up week. We select one poem on the subject by Gladys Robinson.

Clean up! Paint up!

Start right in today!

Get to work and hurry up -

That's what makes things pay!

Paint your house,

Clean up your yard;

Haul away your rubbish,

It really isn't hard

Clean up! Paint up your town!

I will help. Will you?

Clean the streets both up and down,

And, say, clean up the alleys too!

County Treasurer M.J. Dabney was raising merry heck over the failure of local motorists to buy 1917 license plates. Several laggards were hauled before the law and threats of further action were made by the treasurer.

Mr. and Mrs. H.L. Dorr were the proud parents of a little daughter.

Malta again has water for restricted use

Warning that City water still should not be used for drinking purposes until daily test being conducted prove its complete safety, Mayor Hans Mebust said yesterday that repairs had been completed and water department affairs were normal except for final approval by the state health department.

Malta reverted to pioneer and homestead experiences for several days when early Friday morning the elbow on the pump line to the storage tanks blew out and resulted in draining the storage tank and flooding the pumping station and equipment. Shortly, there was no pressure in the mains and town residents were forced to call on those with wells and haul water for all purposes for about 36 hours.

Short power outages experienced recently in this area have been due to vandals shooting the insulators on the 69,000 volt Montana Power line along the Hi-Line. Moisture in the broken insulators causes the wire to catch fire and burn the cross arms and pins holding the insulators.
