Clarence Albert George Beyer

Great Falls- Clarence Albert George Beyer at the age of 95 of natural causes, passed away May 9, 2017 at a care facility in Great Falls Mont. Viewing was Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Kirkwood Funeral Home. Funeral Services were Monday, May 15, 2017 at The Malta Lutheran Church. Clarence was born on October 2, 1921 to Gustav and Augusta Steinberg Beyer and raised in the Strater community east of Malta. He graduated from eighth grade and then helped his father on the family farm as well as working for several farmers in the area: Art Murphy, Lee Schumacher, Tom Simanton, and Oscar Cornell. He was employed by Lee Dobson at Dobson Motors for months before being drafted in 1942 in the Army-Air Force. He did his basic training for 6 months in Salt Lake City before being sent to Pueblo, Colo., where he learned how to load ammunition onto airplanes. From there he was shipped to London where he served two years until World War II ended. After the service, he returned to Malta and his job with Dobson Motors where he worked for 10-years. On November 24, 1945, ee married LuVerne Haugness and they raised six children.

In 1955, he started his own business, Beyer's Husky, across the street from Dobson Motors. Then in 1975, he sold the gas station to his son Richard and later, the bulk plant to George Green. After he retired, Clarence cared for LuVerne the last years of her life until she died in 2005. He raised a huge garden every year and cared for his large yard. He enjoyed going to the Hitchin' Post every morning for coffee and to catch up on the news with the "boys." He also enjoyed the VFW Jam sessions and dancing and playing a weekly dice game with his sister Hazel Ohs and nephew Ron Ohs.

He spent the last seven years of his life at Assisted Care and Memory Care Facility in Great Falls.

Clarence was preceded in death by his Father in 1955 at the age of 72 and his Mother in 1991 at the age of 98; also his brothers Herbert in 1923 and William in 1986 and his wife, LuVerne in 2005.

He is survived by his sister Hazel Ohs of Malta and two daughters: Betsy (Arnie) Wirth of Great Falls and Bonnie (Harvey) Nichols of Billings. Also four sons: Richard (Debbie) Beyer of Great Falls, Robert Beyer of Butte, Roger (Bobbie) Beyer of Phillipsburg and Randy (Jen) Beyer of Des Moines, Iowa, and 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
