One Nation, Under God

Honoring National American Indian Heritage Month

It is debatable whether September or November is the month to honor the American Indian. President George H. W. Bush, on August 3, 1990, declared November as the month to celebrate, however, other articles and historians claim September as the month to recognize National American Indian Heritage Month.

The Malta Senior Center will celebrate by serving Indian Tacos on Saturday, September 23 from 11:30-1:30 p.m., featuring homemade taco fry bread. For dessert, there will be maple and powdered sugar fry bread.

The Phillips County Transit bus will provide rides for those wishing to use their services. The Center hopes to see you for our first event of the fall.

In October, the soup “bar” will be featured with homemade soups and breads.

November is our holiday dinner featuring turkey and ham with potluck dishes on the side. Pies will complete the menu.

The dates for October and November events haven’t been set as yet but will get the word ASAP.

All events are a free will offering to ongoing maintenance for the center.
